Tips: Choosing Your Sign
There are many factors to consider in choosing the right type of sign for your needs, and Sign-GrafX is here to help you sort them out. You may have begun to look at other signs, thinking you'd like "something like that, only better…." When signmakers talk about sign types, we may use terms that are new to you. Don't be afraid to ask "what do you mean by that word 'belt sign'?" or "what are the pros and cons of getting an awning for my storefront?" Questions like these can help us to understand each other better. It may help you to look at our portfolio of photographs to see how we describe signs you like. Your choice of sign type, size and location will be limited to some extent by your local zoning and sign regulations. Start by reading through them. Your choice of sign will also be guided by the "look" you want, how long you want the sign to last and look good, and the budget you have to work with. Up to a certain point, it's possible to make low-cost materials look expensive, although you may pay more for the workmanship in the end. You may also get a sign that looks good when it's brand new, but will age more rapidly because of the cheaper materials. There's a classic truism that if you are looking for HIGH QUALITY, LOW PRICE, and RUSH SERVICE, you can only get two out of three at one time. Be aware that trade-offs are a fact of life in sign making. There are dozens of different sign and material types, and production technologies are changing all the time. Part of our job is to be your personal sign consultant and educator, and to continue to learn, so we can continue to help you. Learning about your needs, location, environment and budget will help us recommend the signage that best fits your needs. |
